Flash videos freeze in stuff.co.nz. only. Have latest firefox and flashplayer, but they still freeze. I refreshed firefox and videos worked, but only for several minutes, then they would freeze again.

Chosen solution

I eventually discovered that the only way flash videos worked was when i disabled Ghostery. I don't know why ghostery should affect videos as i've always had it (as well as Ad block plus), but i disabled each "add-on" in the "extensions" and the only time videos worked was when ghostery was disabled. So now when i want to watch a flash video i just disable good ol ghostery. Just in case anyone wants to know, the only add-ons i have are ghostery (of course), ad block plus and avast online security. I did wonder if this issue was caused by updates, i really don't know, i am just glad to finally find somewhat of a solution to my problem. I hope this may help someone out there, good luck.

Do flash vids only freeze in the provided URL ? I have experienced a windows 7 freeze with flash loaded pages in Firefox. IE is also installed on my system but operates and installs a different version of flash which can cause crashes due to flash version conflicts. You might want to take a look at that. Check which version of flash is supported by Firefox, go to control panel and see which versions of adobe flash player are installed. If there are two, that could be the cause of the freezes. Please let me know

Hi there, flash videos only seem to freeze on homepage of stuff.co.nz. It only started couple weeks ago and don't know why. I too have IE installed on my system, so i checked what version flash player i have and how many as you suggested, and i only have the 1 which is Adobe flash player22 NPAPI. Thank you for trying to help though, much appreciated.

Thanks for getting back. Player 22 is the right one to have installed. Have you already tried to contact support and send the URL ? At the office, I tried stuff.co.nz and had no problem on the page. I am also looking at it closely because at home I experience the same freezes on twitter page which is also heavily flash-loaded. Are you using any ad-blocker ?

HI, i reported a technical problem on stuff/general feedback page yesterday, haven't heard anything back yet. Thanks for trying stuff.co.nz, It must be something up with my system. Yes i have Adblock Plus. That's interesting that you also have same issue on twitter page, it's so annoying.

Hi there, I am so happy to read about your satisfaction with the found solution. I was looking and searching too. One thing that caught my attention is the problem started after enabling 2 addons, flash downloader and German dictionary. I switched both off and the problem seem to have disappeared. Be aware Firefox warns installing addons, even when publishing, is at your own risk. It feels great to see users being actively involved in the browser they use. By the way, the URL you had problems with is nice, I have been peeping every now and then. Stay tuned with Firefox and thanks for getting back. Have great browsing fun. I will inform the support people about this. Thanks

Hi caribbeanfox, what exactly do you mean when you say the URL i had problems with is nice, and you have been peeping every now and then?

In Europe we hardly hear or see what's going on in NZ ;) so I am always into getting to know other countries, habits, cultural life etc.

I recently refreshed Firefox i.e. my profile was backed up and refreshed. It started of with no plugins. Then they were auto reactivated. All toolbars were recovered. The freezes seem to have gone forever. So there must have been a addon or a plugin that caused the freezes. Nothing wrong with the browser. I haven't read any occurring problem of yours so I assume you are all fine and settled.
