Save all my emails back for years. Let Norton 360 fix threats, now emails since 3/27/15 either blank, meaningless text, or appear as bits and pieces on different lines with email addresses and some words. No attachments visible. When click on some, all the email addresses and some text pop up indicating that the email is a compiliation of many others. I had read emails just yesterday, and now today they can no longer be read. No way to recover them on email server, gone.

Could Norton have deleted some sort of code update from monzilla that processed emails from 3/27/15 and now they are there but can be read? Appears to be some sort of translation issue.

It sounds like your mail files got corrupted.

Try to rebuild the index file of the troubled folder. Right-click the folder - Properties - Repair Folder

Note: depending on the corruption this may erase messages from the affected folder which cannot be recovered anymore. In that case you'd need to restore them from a recent backup.

Corruption is often caused by anti-virus software messing with Thunderbird mail files. It is therefore recommended to create an exception for the Thunderbird profile folder, so that the real-time scanner won't attempt to scan the profile with your mail.

For more information on the profile location see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Thunderbird
