The mail in one of my folders is in the Profile database, but doesn't show up in the list of messages

I can access all of my saved messages, except for those in one folder. I looked in the Pop.mail section of the Profile and they are all there. But, there is no entry in the Total Messages column and there is nothing to click on or see.

I have rebuilt the Global Database, but nothing changed.

Thanks for any help you can offer.

How often do you compact the folders? You should do that at least once a week to keep things working smoothly. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Keep_it_working_-_Thunderbird

Try repairing the folder.

I did a folder repair and nothing changed. The folder properties still show ) messages taking up 0KB (but the messages are still in POP.mail section of Profile.

If the messages use 0 KB of space, does that not mean there is nothing there? Sometimes a folder gets its count wrong. If that happens, you can clear it out with Shift-C to reset the count to zero (as well as removing any messages there).

Well, I wish I knew everything I did, but all the messages are now visible and I can view them.

I poked around in the POP.mail folder in Profiles and found several empty folders, that were totally unrelated to the one folder with the missing messages. I deleted all the empty folders (a daring move, but I was desperate), rebuilt the Global Database again, and there were the messages. I won't swear this solved the problem as I might have done something else I don't remember, but my messages are back!!!

As I said in the earlier posting, all is now well. As for compacting folders I am afraid I am slightly (?) compulsive and compact them at least once a day.
