After updating to Firefox 3.6.10, I always receive "The connection has timed out" but I am able to access the pages through IE.

I updated my Firefox to 3.6.10 last night. Right after the update, I start get "The connection has timed out" message no matter which website I try. However, I am able to access the pages through IE without any problem. I have tried the advice published on this website to reconfigure my firewall settings by removing Firefox and adding back in to the exception list. I've also cleared history items. But the problem still exists. Any suggestions?

For me, this was caused by a firewall app (sygate). Sygate usually asks me if an app should be allowed to access the internet after it's exe has changed. In this case, Sygate's UI was not coming up, but it's backend was blacking the connection.

You are correct. Once I disabled Sygate, I can browse the internet using FireFox. Unfortunately, I don't have the firewall anymore...

Sygate used to have the interface that allows us to pick which process is allowed. But it is not there any more. Is the Sygate conflicting with Firefox?

Anyway, thank you for your help!
