Autorefesh Pages
I now have the problem that I am on a large payment page and switch back and forth between FF and another app (to copy payment-relevant data). Unfortunately, FF does a page refresh every time it is brought back to the foreground from the background. And all the data already entered is lost! This is a fairly well-known problem with FF on Android! Chromium manages this better and leaves the memory management to Android. Why can't FF do that? Why can't I switch off this feature? I can't edit any relevant websites with the FF. I have to use Chrome for that! Hooray!

Can you tell us which site the payment page is on? Maybe one of the developers has a account there too & can reproduce the problem. But I do know exactly the "Go to another app, return to Firefox app & page refreshes" issue. It usually happens to me if I've been away from the browser for a long time before I switch back to it. It also happens on certain tabs I switch back to that Firefox thinks are stale/old & need to be refreshed. Often times, I haven't opened the tab in a few days when that happens.
But I think a website can also request/force Firefox to refresh/reload a page after X amount of time. So I wonder if the payment page is sending a signal like that & Chrome ignores it but Firefox respects it. Either way it sounds highly annoying.
Well, this happens with all pages! As soon as FF is sent to the background and comes back to the foreground after a while, the current page is reloaded. While Chromium leaves this to Android, FF probably does this itself (I read this somewhere). It's really annoying when you have to re-enter form data just because you briefly switch apps! It can't be the RAM: 8 GB, 2 apps open...

Ok, I found a solution: I can increase the RAM memory on my Xiaomi by delegating ROM memory for it. I have added 6 GB to my 8 GB (i.e. 14 GB). The problem no longer occurs. So it was probably a memory problem in connection with the FF...
Ok, everything back! No improvement! FF still does a page refresh....
Could you try to check Android Settings > Apps > Firefox > App Info > Battery usage. There might be some restrictive mode enabled by default.
I have the feeling I'm the only one who has this problem! Can't you reproduce it on your end? The website itself is completely irrelevant. As soon as I open the FF from the background, the page is reloaded! Normally I don't care at all - but not when I'm entering a form, I want to copy something out in another app, and after reactivating the FF I can start all over again! Are 8 GB of RAM really the bottleneck? With two open apps???
It's just once again "zum Kotzen"! I'm trying to compare the product data on a website with an Excel spreadsheet: no chance! As soon as I come back to FF from the Excel app, the page is reloaded and I can get back to the product data... No, dear FF, we're not going to be friends like this. It works with Opera!
Do you have any active extensions or add-on ? And what about the settings i provided you ?
Hi me267, I don't think you're the only one having this problem. I just discovered another Xiaomi phone user with the exact same problem: /questions/1462145. They are using a Xiaomi Redmi Note 10 Pro. I wonder if the type of phone used can cause the auto refreshing to happening more often.
Has this issue just started appearing recently for you or has this been happening in the previous Firefox versions?
I found a Firefox Android bug where someone discovered turning on a "auto-start" permission for Firefox makes tabs auto-refresh less: When switching tabs, newly active tabs always reload https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1807364#c66
The setting may be called "Background autostart" on Xiaomi phones.
