I recently started cleaning out the cache, cookies etc to save memory , but after that i noticed that suddenly firefox initially take about 5-10 seconds to becomes responsive , this did not happened earlier , is this something because of internals of the firefox or because the clearing of cache and other data ? (from other data i just mean that the private data which can easily be cleared from clear browsing data )

While computers are Very Fast by human norm, it still takes time to do that it is told to do.

Are you clearing the browser when closing, or now and then?

Type about:preferences#privacy<enter> in the address bar. The button next to History, select Use Custom Settings.

At the bottom of the page, turn on Clear History When Firefox Closes. At the far right, press the Settings button.

Note: When using Private Browsing everything (cookies, cache, etc) is stored in a Temporary file that is removed when the browser closes.
