Sending mail to multiple friends; program duplicates receivers already on list
I like to fwd jokes..I select receivers from list [entering letters at start of their name]. After 3 or 4 entries the program replicates the address of a person already on list and won't accept further names. Doesn't seem to be associated with any particular person. Is there an optimum number of recipients?
Thanks for help
Jen

The auto fill will select options for you to choose. If there is a duplicate then it is because you selected it.
re : won't accept further names - s there an optimum number of recipients? do you mean you can only see eg: 4 TO lines ?
when you get to the last visible TO entry, enter the email address and press on the 'Return' / 'Enter' key to produce another line. In this respect it is exactly the same as typing a sentence and using the 'Enter' key to move to the next line.
Remember if sending to several people, they may not appreciate you sharing their email address with other people, so use Bcc.
Since this problem started about 2 weeks ago I have been very careful in selecting names. The list incorporates the next name I choose then immediately reverts to a person already on the list...sometimes the first one; sometimes the most recent....we have reset our modem in an effort to troubleshoot....not sure what else to try.
I always use BCC

What happens if you use the Contact Sidebar to add the names? In a new Write message.
- Make sure the Contact Sidebar is visible.
- View > Select 'contact sidebar' or toggle view using f9 key
- Select the address book
- Select contact (s)
- Note: to select various names, hold down 'Ctrl' key and use mouse to click on names.
- click on 'Addto Bcc' button
Check the header list. do they look correct?
If no, then Test Thunderbird in Safe Mode.
In Thunderbird Help > Restart with addons disabled.

This comes VERY close to solving my issue....however how would it apply to forwarding email? [This would be my most frequent use]
Thanks for you efforts

Select email, click on 'Forward' button.
New Write email opens. Now use same instructions to add email addresses.
I've been testing this issue on my system and can reproduce the error.
It seems to occur when you have names have a similar start eg: using 'Da'. i've located a bug report and I'm currently updating it with info to get this bug moved up the priority,
This is the bug:
You can 'Vote' for the bug. You would need to register or login.
Thank you for your efforts! I will definitely try it
