New Windows 7 system, Thunderbird installed and operating properly. After a couple of weeks Thunderbird started crashing the computer upon opening. (Blue Screen of Death) Opening Win7 in safe mode or opening Thunderbird in safe mode makes no difference. Disabling drivers in Win7 control panel does not help. Uninstalling and reinstalling v31, no change, crashes when starting up on completion of the installation. Screen opens, loads to a point, then crashes, always the same.

Cannot do a system restore since I use a dual boot, and have not disabled XP's interference with the Win7 restore function, therefore there are no valid restore points.

Crash ID: bp-ddc88c11-f96c-4d5f-8ead-215a52140728

As the crash is for the last version, I suggest you download and install the current V31. that will force a refresh of the program files which might fix things if it is a corruption or registry error

Uninstalled Thunderbird, downloaded & installed v31. When installed and run the screen opened for a while as program loaded, then BSOD. Checked for crash ids, there were none. Repeated opening several times with same results and no crash ids.

Installed Windows Mail (I had only TB e-mail program so was unable to read my e-mail), it has been working throughout the day, so something is related to Thunderbird?

I have no doubt it is related to Thunderbird. But what is the interaction that is causing the issue. Try restarting your computer in safe mode and see if Thunderbird will start.

The same thing happens both when I start windows in safe mode or start Thunderbird in safe mode. Also in Diagnostic Start in Control Panel.

Your random crash signatures combined with BSOD indicates hardare or driver problems. Check ALL your hardware, cable connections, board and memory seating, fans, etc

Have spent the last couple of days unplugging/plugging and testing with no improvement in performance.

I see where Microsoft has a program verifier.exe for testing drivers. I'll bone up on that then see if it can help.
