The webpage icons disappeared from the bookmarks menu when I updated to 9.0.

I accomplished a firefox update after I was automatically notified that an update for firefox 9.0 was available. After the update to 9.0 was complete, I noticed that the small icons to the left of all webpage shortcuts found inside the bookmarks menu were gone. A few of the icons were replaced with a small square outline, the rest were completely gone. I like the icons because they help me identify the webpage I would like to access.

What is going on, and how do I correct this problem?
