This has happened a few times before after a Firefox update, but the most recent occurrence was after the update to version 117.0.1. My mouse wheel will not scroll in the bookmarks drop down menu, I have to use the up and down arrows in the drop down menu which is very slow. When the scroll wheel did work in the past, I could be scrolling and then move the cursor to the up or down arrows and scroll even faster still using the scroll wheel and get to the folder I want a lot quicker. The scroll wheel works normally while scrolling through webpages, the only place it doesn't scroll is the bookmarks drop down menu. I'm running Firefox version 117.0.1 (64 bit) on a Windows 10 notebook PC. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.

In the interim I am using Ctrl + B to open the bookmarks menu and then using the slider on the side to quickly scroll to the bookmark I want. However easy this method is, I would prefer to get the scroll wheel working in the drop down menu.

Thank you for the suggestion, yes it does. I should have made another reply to my first post to give that information after I found an old query of mine dealing with the same issue when Firefox updated to version 99 I believe. I just didn't want to post another reply to update the first post.

What is your mouse model? What type of scroll wheel? Does it rotate smoothly or in steps?

Does it make any difference if you go to about:config in the address bar and change dom.event.wheel-event-groups.enabled to false then restart the browser?

Boot the computer in Windows Safe Mode with network support to see if that has effect.

I have tried rebooting the PC many times using different methods I've found, but it always boots up without giving me a screen that allows me to "Choose An Option". The only thing I can do is hit the esc key and there is nothing there that helps me, at least I haven't found anything.

I have a Logitech M510 mouse where the scroll wheel rotates in steps. When I changed it to "false" it scrolled for about a second, but then it did that when I changed it back to "true". The only time it ever scrolls is if I have closed Firefox instead of minimizing it like I usually do. Then it will scroll for about a second and then stop.

Try uninstalling any Logitech software.

I removed the i=unifying software, closed Firefox and restarted the computer but it still won't scroll in the drop down menu.

Do you have another mouse that you can use for testing ?

I wanted to try the mouse on my wife's desktop, but it's literally a pain in my neck and back to pull it out and disconnect the USB plug. I tried a Logitech V220 but couldn't get it to work. I have another M510 that is used on another notebook that works fine on that PC, but it didn't solve the issue on this one.

You can test daily builds of Nightly between 2023-07-04 (116) and 2023-07-31 (117) to find when it broke or automate the process with mozregression.

What mouse driver software do you currently use ?

You can drag the Bookmarks Menu button Bookmark Menu icon (star on tray) that shows the bookmarks in a drop-down list and drag the Library button that gives access to recent bookmarks and history from the Customize palette to the Navigation Toolbar. The Bookmarks Menu button has a "View bookmarks sidebar" menu item.

See "How do I add the Bookmarks Menu button to the toolbar?"

I apologize, but I'm totally ignorant with what I can, or am supposed to do on either of these. I'll change what is normally said to "It's alien to me".

The driver software is Logitech Unifying Software, and the version is version is 6.0.45.0. I added the Bookmarks Menu button the first to the toolbar and then to the menu, but in both cases it still did not scroll. Adding "sidebars" to the Menu Bar saves me from having to select ctrl + B, so that's a plus.

There is also a Sidebar icon on the Customize palette available that you can drag to the toolbar.

After reading my last reply to you I realized in my last sentence I wasn't clear about what I did. I should have said that I added the Sidebar icon to my toolbar which is going to save me from having to select ctrl + B to open it.

I apologize for the long delay in trying another mouse. I was finally able to find and try another USB mouse, but I still cannot scroll through the bookmarks drop down menu.

Does it still happen in a new profile? An easy way to test a new profile is to install Developer Edition and see if it happens there or refresh your existing profile.

Once again I'm apologizing for a delayed response. I don't remember seeing the email with your response, (I found your response because I check this page periodically, evidently not often enough, to see if anything else has been posted),and after looking for it in my inbox and spam folder, I can't find it. It's also not in my trash folder and that folder contains emails dating back to earlier this year.

In any event, I downloaded the Developer Edition and still can't scroll through the bookmarks menu.
