Since the latest update on Aug. 12th 2021 (version 91), I am unable to open pdf links in my native program. I have the "Use Windows default application" selected in the drop down; however no matter which selection I choose the Firefox web browser will not open pdf files in it's native application installed on the computer. Instead it opens up in a new tab every time. I am now reduced to using Microsoft IE to open these links so it works using my native application.

It seems the issue is caused by a deliberate change in Firefox 91 which is unlikely to be undone. I have dealt with the problem by disabling Firefox as a pdf viewer. Change the following preference in about:config to true: pdfjs.disabled.
