I have Firefox 58.0.1 (64 bit) on a windows 7 machine.

When I start firefox I get the dialog box stating firefox is updating after which firefox starts normally. However when I got to the Help about dialog I get the Restart to update firefox button and firefox has not been updated.

This has been going on for a series of versions and always the result is for me to manually download full version and reinstall.

Things tried. 1. Starting firefox as administrator. 2. Deleting C:\Users\XXXXX\AppData\Local\Mozilla\updates folder . 3. Even tried Refresh firefox under about:support

This is is pc for which I have admin rights but it is running Mcafee Endpoint security.

Thanks in advance for any assistance

If you have trouble with the upgrade, use this link; http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/

Thanks Fred for the prompt reply. However this is the problem everytime firefox has an update I have to do a full installation and want to be able to fix this and update via the correct mechanism. So this is not specific to this update.

It might be your protection programs are getting in the way. Open their settings and have them leave the browsers alone.
