It no longer seems possible to change a Thunderbird account password on a Mac. How do I do this, and if there's no way, can it be fixed?

I need to change or update the password of one of my Thunderbird email accounts. I have different passwords for each email account; these passwords are the ones needed to access my various accounts with my email providers. I'm using Thunderbird version 5.2.4 on my Apple Mac (with OS 10.12.6). The password apparently cannot be accessed or managed through Thunderbird Account Settings or through Thunderbird Preferences.

The guidance from most support articles for this issue (go to tools/options/security/password/...) apparently is obsolete or not applicable to Macs, as there is no "options" under the tools menu. Other guidance, from other support articles also doesn't work, and some guidance addresses the master password, not the ones needed to logon to email providers. As indicated above, there appears to be no longer way for a Thunderbird user to update or change the unique password that Thunderbird supplies to an email provider every time a user is logging-on to his/her unique email account, via Thunderbird. Please help!
