Did you not have separate User Accounts? I would consider that mandatory if I had to share a computer.

In Thunderbird, you can go to Tools|Account Settings. Select an account you want to remove, and click the button below the panel where the accounts are listed. (This button's label changes, but may say Account Actions.) The button shows a drop-down menu that lets you remove the selected account.
