Suddenly my default google search is gone - I have to type it in for each search. Also, the zoom tool disappeared - I used to just click on + or - but it's gone now.

If all you need to do is get a certain search plugin, can you not just get that one from the Mycroft site and install it?

Can you not just choose Google in the search bar? That is what sets the search engine to use.

In Firefox 34 you need to go into Options > Search to change the "default" search engine. The Search Bar drop-down just allows you to select a "OneOff" search engine; the next search done will be back to using the "default" search engine.

As far as the Zoom controls, maybe they ended up back in the Customize panel? https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/customize-firefox-controls-buttons-and-toolbars

Thank you. I did get the zoom back thanks to your instructions. However, I can't get the default search back to Google - it is blank. Not sure what you mean by "OneOff" but I tried using the next one down on the drop down menu, but it still didn't come back to Google. It won't allow me to choose Google for default. Is "oneoff" supposed to be an option?

Try to delete the search.json file and possible search-metadata.json and search.sqlite files in the Firefox profile folder to reset the search engines to the default.

Firefox will rebuild the search.json file from the default search engines in the "browser\searchplugins" folder in the Firefox program folder and the searchplugins folder in the Firefox profile folder.

You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:

If you do not keep changes after a restart or otherwise have problems with preferences, see:

You can check if you have the XML files of the default search engines including Google in the browser\searchplugins folder in the Firefox program folder.

If not then you need to reinstall Firefox. You can find the full version of the current Firefox 34.0 release in all languages and for all Operating Systems here:
