Instead, it takes up more space on my address toolbar line, and is all the way across the screen from where I expect it.

Hi,

Thanks for using Firefox, you can use an add-on to customize this as follows:

https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/

This article describes how: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-to-make-new-firefox-look-like-old-firefox

Let me know if you need more help.

Thanks, Michelle

I think you can restore to classic mode, however at this time we are looking more into this today. Thank you very much.

Try using this User Style:
http://userstyles.org/styles/94907/australis-menu-button-on-the-left

You'll need to install Stylish for User Styles.
Available here - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/stylish/

Yeah, the problem here is that we have to use an OUTSIDE fix to restore NOMINAL configurability/functionality we HAD in previous versions. Firefox is trading Peter away to pay Paul.

My V.29 is slightly faster. I'm not unappreciative.... But it feels like one step forward and 1.5 back. Several hours of CTR (a good one) and I get approximately what I'm aiming for.... Am I going to have to do it again for V.29.0.0.1?
