My FF (13.0.1) intermittently offers via R-click menu option to "Search Google for" whatever text I have selected.

AFAICT there is no rhyme/reason to when it does and doesn't, and I would like it to do that every time.

I didn't think I could be the only one, but maybe my search bone ain't what it used to be.

Thanks!

Chosen solution

Can you give an example of a situation where it doesn't show and some text is selected?

It won't work in a text area or input form.

Thank you! That's a variable I had not noticed... and checking this text box and a search result page it seems you may be correct, but I have doubts this behavior is consistent. I'll go days without seeing it, and I select text to search at least 20 times per day. I will have to remain (more) alert to those circumstances.

But, to me, that makes perfect sense if perfect sense is the same as absolutely no sense.

Just for S&G, would you happen to know if those exclusions are intentional, unavoidable, or the result of apathy...?

Thanks again.

Do you have extensions installed that modify the right-click context menu ?

I don't think so. Two, both disabled.

Let me transcribe those because for some reason R-click (and L!) are disabled on the Add-ons Manager Page.

HP Detect 1.0.6.1 [disabled] Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant 1.2.1 [disabled]

Do Add-ons tend toward causing intermittent errors? I assume not.

If "It won't work in a text area or input form" is the extent of the known limitations the problem is probably the usual, dead link between chair and keyboard.

I searched, I didn't find anyone else with the "problem", which further suggests I'm the problem, but I'm going to blame Win7 x64.

I'm thinking now that my dictionary sucks and most often I'm wishing to check my word that I know is a word and spelt good (and often which I know I have previously added)..

I'm going to call this problem solved.

Thanks again.
