I keep getting this message

A script on this page may be busy, or it may have stopped responding. You can stop the script now, or you can continue to see if the script will complete.

Script: resource://jid0-0pgffacvvhubiefykrvvc5w6liu-at-jetpack-api-utils-lib/securable-module.js -> resource://jid0-0pgffacvvhubiefykrvvc5w6liu-at-jetpack-api-utils-lib/content/content-proxy.js:164

And then my firefox freezes. It's really frustrating

I have the same issue. If I press 'continue', this message pops up. It looks like a form to fill in: Awesome Screenshot Options Image Format PNG JPG Shortcuts Setting Capture Visible Capture Full

So I am assuming this is something to do with the online GIF maker I used a few days ago, when the issues started. Gickr.com?

I've been having this happen to me every time I go to Tumblr.com. The first time I go there after opening Firefox, it'll at least give me the option to stop the script. The next time I accidentally go to Tumblr in the same session, it'll just freeze and I have to kill the process.

Just thought I'd reply saying where I have the issue. That's the only site that I go to where it freezes up like this, though.

Edit - I had the Missing e add-on and disabled it in an attempt to get it to work, and it did. But I still have this weird issue where it says I need Javascript to view the site, and I do have it installed (and updated) but...uh? Different issue I guess.

I started having this problem after Tumblr.com changed the way it displayed tags on my dashboard. The updated version of Missing e (released today) has fixed this problem for me!

EDIT: I messaged the Missing e developer about this error, and he sent back this: "The error was related to the maximum font size feature, which is no longer necessary and has been removed from Missing e."

I don't use Gickr or Tumblr. I don't know what missing e means.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

I haven't solved my issue yet but I know now that it does not happen in safe mode. It is a good start. Thanks for your help

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")
