thunderbird disconnecting from gmail connecting to yahoo

more options

I have used thunderbird 115 with gmail for some time, happily.

I have had to leave gmail as I supplied the wrong password and stupidly had not set up an alternative email as backup or protection.

I have adopted yahoo, reluctantly, and can get it to work but don't like its interface and wish to integrate thunderbird with yahoo as I did with gmail.

Problem is when I try to send an email from thunderbird it sends me to log in to gmail which, of course, I cannot do. How do I break this connection with gmail and create a new, robust one with yahoo or is that not possible?

If I delete and reinstall thunderbird would that help and would it find my contacts and old email files?

Treat me gently please, as you can see I am out of my depth and flailing!

Generally, reinstalling solves nothing and can introduce its own problems. My thought would be to click 'account settings' and scroll down left side to see if that gmail account still exists. My next thought is to, from same pane, click the outgoing server SMTP pane to view the details of your SMTP server to insure that it is set to Yahoo and not to gmail.

Thank you for your swift and supportive response, David.

I see now that I was being thrown by the screen headed "google" (what has it to do with them?) asking for a password and offering the old address "[email protected]".

When I plucked up courage and changed this address to my existing yahoo account and entered the password I received a verification code that I duly entered.

Next a screen again headed "google" (what has it to do with them?) asking for my phone number which was rejected "There was a problem verifying your phone number".

What was the problem? I am not at all clear what to do next.

Posting a screenshot of your server settings may help. Have you verified that the gmail account has been deleted? This URL may assist: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-yahoo

I followed earlier advice and checked that gmail hade been removed from settings and yahoo was present.

There was an encouraging sign that thunderbird and yahoo were talking to each other despite my phone not being validated then I got the offending message again.

I see it comes from "https://accounts.google.com/_/bscframe"

What is triggering this? It rather looks as if thunderbird and yahoo talk satisfactorily until this message appears and not thereafter.
