Starting a few days ago I noticed every time I open Firefox, it shows Google in the search bar, but whenever I search for something, it brings up Bing search instead. I have gone in an turned off Bing for search options and Google is the preferred search engine, but still does not work. I know I should be able to go in to Add-ons and delete anything with "bing" in the name along with other things, but whatever this is will not allow the Add-ons page open up. It is just a blank page. I have gone to the programs uninstall on the computer also and nothing I can see that shouldn't be there. I just want Google back and I am assuming that there was some auto update that happened and this tagged along because I haven't installed anything on here for a while. Any help would be appreciated.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; (<Control> [Mac=<Command>] <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove “ Bing “ Anything.

Also remove SafeSearch, SearchAssist Incognito, FileConverter Addon, SearchLock, DiscreteSearch, WebSearch, Findwide Search Engine, securedsearch

Now do the same in the computer’s Programs Folder.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the Applications folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

Fred,

I tried that and all it will do is bring me to a blank page. It is like whatever is on my computer forcing Bing to do the searches, is blocking me from accessing the apps page so I can't uninstall it. And there isn't anything on my computer control panel programs that I don't recognize. That is what I was trying to explain above in the original message because I saw your exact response in a previous users issue that was similar to mine. Thanks

Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Troubleshoot(Safe) Mode (not Refresh).

Then check the Add-ons Manager again.

You may have ad/mal-ware. Further information can be found in this article; https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-caused-malware?cache=no

Run most or all of the listed free to use malware scanners. Each works differently. If one program misses something, another may pick it up.
