Latest Thunderbird Update Unable To Individually Select Multiple Recipients

Before the two latest Thunderbird updates which occured today and 3 days ago, and since 2005 or so, I have been able to use the enter button to individually and randomly create multiple recipients, as many as I needed, but now when I hit enter after creating the first recipient, be it to/bcc/cc, Thunderbird does not open up a new to/bcc/cc recipient - it just jumps to the Subject field.

From the top middle of the new updated screen after selecting my first recipient, to/bcc/cc, I can select the bcc or cc to create a 2nd recipient and if I want a 3rd recipient the previous bcc or cc used for the 2nd recipient no longer appears at the top of the screen and if I select the bcc or cc (whichever still appears) it just changes the 2nd recipients cc/bcc selected and no 3rd recipient is created. to create another recipient and if I try to select whichever remains, bcc or cc, it just completely changes the 2nd recipient I selected, cc or bcc. How do I fix this or is this a developers issue that needs to be sorted out.

Chosen solution

Fiona, it's now multiple recipients per row - the design of the addressing area was changed in TB 78 to realize a lot of benefits. After entering each recipient, press Enter exactly once (!) and then just type another one in the same row. Click on CC/BCC disclosure buttons on top to show the container rows for those types, and just add multiple recipients inside each row.

The English version of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/addressing-email has all the details (localized versions might still be outdated).

I have filed a bug... lets see how it goes. I hope I have covered all the right bits.

Fiona, Matt,

The bug report and the responses above seem to cover the second half of the problem described by Fiona. The initial part that I also have; i.e. when hitting enter after creating the first recipient, be it to/bcc/cc, Thunderbird does not open up a new to/bcc/cc recipient field - it just jumps to the Subject field.

Also, in my case when I double click on either the cc or the bcc option at the top of the screen, a cc AND a bcc recipient field is created. After that it is no longer possible to create an additional cc and/or bcc recipient field, similar to the problem with the to field.

This is a real pain Matt, can you please submit this variant on the original problem.

Thanks,

 Tom Seiden
