I use Firefox at work with Windows 10 and at home with Linux Mint? How do I make the same home page work for both? I am very new to Linux.

Syncing the homepage is disabled by default.

You can toggle this pref to true on the about:config page to enable syncing the homepage.

  • services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.startup.homepage = true

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

cor-el, I checked on this, and this preference is already marked true.

I think the problem is that I have this saved as a basic html file in windows format. Linux, while able to open these files in Firefox, stores the files differently. So at home it cannot find the location. If I change it, then when I am at work it cannot find the location. I save this in my Mega storage location online (mega.nz), so whenever I make changes, the new copy is reflected on the other computer. I have not yet installed the Linux version of Mega.

Background: not that it matters, but I am a Linux novice because I refused to move to Windows 10. I do it at work because I have to. I switched at home because Windows 7 started acting up - the security finally started failing and giving me all these warnings. So I am really a Windows 7 user that switched to Linux Mint 19. The learning curve has been slow, and I start working from home later this week.

Ok. Enough blabbering. Thanks for any and all help. It is greatly appreciated. ciresmis

Well, I thought I might be able to use my MEGA account to act as a common html file, but it does not work that way. I cannot use a stored file as a homepage. So I am back to square one.

RECAP: I am an old Windows 7 user at home who refused to upgrade to Windows 10. I use Windows 10 at work because I have no choice. I recently began using Linux Mint 19.1 at home. Learning curve underway. I chose the dual boot option, but now when I boot into Windows 7 it gives error messages constantly. When I boot into Windows 7 without any internet, no errors or messages of any kind except that I am not connected to the internet. My problem is that I have a home page that I have used for maybe 20 years now, and I want to keep using it. How can I get Firefox to have that home page icon actually point to the same home page at work (Windows 10) and at home (Linux Mint 19.1)?

Thanks for any help, advice or suggestions.
