Old tab still reopen after closing all tabs

When I close all the tabs in Firefox, Firefox exits. This is expected.

What is not expected, is when I launch Firefox again, my most recently closed Tab is still there! How do I avoid my most recently closed Tab from appearing! I have closed it, therefore it shouldn't appear.

I have set Firefox to "Show Your Windows and Tabs from Last Time", but this is not the behaviour I would expect. It should only show me Tabs that were still open when I last closed Firefox.

Chosen solution

To get your desired behavior you can try a workaround:

  1. Type in about:config in the address bar and press enter.
  2. Bypass the warning (if shown).
  3. Find the entry "browser.tabs.closeWindowWithLastTab" using the search box and set its value to false.

What it does is, it prevents the window from closing with the last tab. You'll have to close the window separately (one extra click). But there won't be any tab left to remember for the next browser launch.

Awesome!

Regarding the additional click to close tab - it's okay, I use keyboard shortcuts, so it's still pretty speedy.

I do hope Firefox improves this behaviour someday though.
