I updated to 56.0. The Firefox update page, https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/56.0/whatsnew/?oldversion=55.0.3, (see image I've attached or move down the page to opposite the words More responsive tab switching) shows the + sign to open a new tab to the right of the current tab. But I can't get my plus sign to move. I've right-clicked on the tab bar, chosen Optimize, but the + sign won't stay to the right of the current tab. I can get it to move to the far right, but the illustration above shows the + sign to the immediate right of the last tab. How can I get my + sign to do what Firefox shows that it can do?

Chosen solution

If you can't move the new tab button to its original position then try to click the Restore Defaults button in the Customize palette.

Restore defaults still does not put the + to the right of the latest tab.
