I have message saying shockwave plugin is disabled because it is older version. I followed the steps to update and said it complete and I rebooted computer but Firefox plugins is still saying shockwave player is version 23.0.0.185 yet when I go to Adobe website to verify version they say I am up to date with version 23.0.0.207. I have even tried to do the firefox refresh and it says the same thing that shockwave is disabled because it's older version. What is the deal? Also your refresh is a pain I am still trying to get everything back to the way I had it. I am getting fed up and about ready to install chrome.

The Shockwave 23.0.0.185 and 23.0.0.207 is the Shockwave Flash or rather the Flash Player. https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/

The two images showing Shockwave Player is for Shockwave (for director) Player which is a different Plugin and is not related to the Flash Player nor is it needed for the Flash Player to work. It is not used much now days compared to Flash player and is used for say some games and learning software.

This image below shows the difference to what each is in Plugins panel of the Addons Manager in Firefox. Ignore the old versions as it is a old image.

Let's try this;

Flash: Grab the uninstaller from here: Uninstall Flash Player | Windows Uninstall Flash Player | Mac

Then reinstall the latest version.

Note: Windows users should download the active_x for Internet Explorer. and the plugin for Plugin-based browsers (like Firefox).

Note: Windows 8 and Windows 10 have built-in flash players and Adobe will cause a conflict. Install the plugin only. Not the active_x.

Flash Player Version: 23.0.0. 207 Flash Player (Linux) Version 11.2. 202.644

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/ Direct link scans current system and browser Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

https://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Step 1: Select Operating System Step 2: Select A Version (Firefox, Win IE . . . .) Note: Other software is offered in the download. <Windows Only>

What version does it mention if you click the More link in the Flash plugin section?

You can try to delete the pluginreg.dat file in the Firefox Profile Folder and maybe addons.sqlite as well to reset the plugin registry databases.

See Re-initializing the plugins database:

You can use this button to go to the current Firefox profile folder:
