Can't get password or reset link. What do I do?
Can't get password or reset link. What do I do? Reset email is never sent. This Master Password"... how do you set it? I'm locked out of Thunderbird. Help
Chosen solution
Perhaps he is trying to reset the Thunderbird Master Pasword like I am trying to do? I copy the code and paset it into tools\error console and press Evaluate. I am asked if I want to reset the Master PW and I say Yes, then I receive a pop-up saying the Master PW has been reset. Perhaps he is looking for a email telling him what the PW has been rest to? But the problem is, nothing happens when the Password reset msg is sent. TB continues to ask for the password. i have not changed my PW and when I enter the Correct PW, TB does not recognize it. And resetting the Master PW does nothing but generate Pop up messages. This is very frustrating. The info in the Help files is not accurate or the code provided does not work although it generates messages saying the PW was reset.

Since there is no reset link for the actual Master Password in Thunderbird I can only assume that you are really talking about the password to your email account. That is between you and your email provider. Thunderbird has nothing to do with the administration of your email account password. Go to your providers email help page and look for a link to reset your password.
If this is not what you are talking about, explain what you are trying to do and where this "link" to reset your password is.
it has been 10+ years; I never can enter to tell the robot where to send the reset password link. the link is sent to my t-bird email, [email protected], which I cannot open. Being 76 I lose patience & use my gmail acct [email protected]. but [email protected] is cued in fb, meaning some messaging from there can never be answered.
how can I tell the t-bird robot where to send the reset password link? please answer c/o [email protected]
As stated above, Thunderbird has nothing to do with resetting or administering your email password. There is no reset dialog in Thunderbird for your email password. Go to your email providers help page and look for a link to reset your password. Again, Thunderbird has nothing to do with resetting your email password.
how can I tell the t-bird robot to send reset password to [email protected] not to my t-bird [email protected]. It's been years since I could open the tbird dialoguemakers.org acct
please help
Ken there is NO thunderbird robot that is going to send you anything. You are going to be waiting another 10 years plus if you think there is. I gave you instructions above. If you chose to ignore them then I can't help you. Thunderbird has nothing to do with your dialogmakers.org account. Contact your provider for help with that account.

We did our own work around, which allowed all time log in. Regards Larry's "10 year" freeze over regards Tbird access, drop the Elder Abuse!
Do mark this as "user ken78724 did a work around, in accord with postings going back almost seven years. Those postings allowed needed log ins.

Ken is trying to do the same thing I am. I followed the directions to reset the TB Master Password. I copied the code and pasted it in the error panel and clicked "Evaluate". I was asked if I wanted to proceed and reset my PW - I said yes and rec'd a confirmation. Then NOTHING happens! This is not a ISP issue. It is a TB Master Password. I even went farther and found another way to kill the Master Password, I was told to go to the profile and delete the "Key3.db" file. Which I did and then I rebooted. I am STILL asked for a password. No password I have ever used will work. Time for a new email program!
