See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profiles-tb to locate your TB profile. Using your file explorer, go to the file of the folder in question, right click on it, and open it with Notepad. The format is a little difficult to read, but each email starts with "From - <the date sent>" You can use the 'find' function to look for the next message: search for "From - ". The next line after "From" starts with "X-Mozilla-Status: <a number>" There are two things I want you to look for:

   a) do you see any (or all) of your missing emails?
   b) what is the number after X-Mozilla-Status (at least on a few of the missing ones)?

I am able to paste same folder in profile, folder size is 178 mb & MSF file is 143 kb, when i open TB, i can see that folder, but i am unable to see any data.

Also when i close TB, 143 kb msf file becomes 3 kb.

I remember, this emails had attachments in word & PDF

Dont use TB to look at it. Use Explorer to find the file without extension. copy that somewhere so you can open it as text. If its 178MB big, Notetab might not load it. (thats why you need to copy.)

Tell us the STATUS before you try to repair

read this article. but don't compacting folders. It also say how to REPAIR it by deleting the corresponding .msf -file and then letting Thunderbird recreate it.

But just in case have a copy if anythings goes wrong

Set the X-Mozilla-Status to 0000. (any other number means its deleted)

hi,

i could find "from" but could not find x-mozilla-status or the number, attached is screen shot of file. is this file corrupted ??

That is hard to say. There is this word from. without it I would think it was a picture or any other non text-file that is included. OR encrypted text. If you dont find a header with from and date either you have encrypt it or its corrupt.

Example from my inbox From - Mon Jan 19 10:09:30 2015) and further down From: "Club Clas" <[email protected]> Date: Thu, 08 Jan 2015 12:08:03 +0100 Subject: =?windows-1252?Q?Nytt_=E5r=2C_nya_utmaningar?= To: <gnospen@"mymailserver.net"> Reply-To: "Club Clas" <[email protected]>'

By the way you have to search for " From: "
