One of our users has a problem with his Thunderbird not opening PDF's every time. Double click a pdf attachment and it will open fine. Try it again on the same attachment and nothing happens. He has found however, that if he closes RUNDLL32 in Task Manager and tries opening the PDF again it opens without problem. He has the latest version of Thunderbird and Acrobat reader installed. Any ideas what the problem is?

The first thing to try is to reset the default application setting: open Tools/Options/Attachments and delete the entry for pdf Content type (from the Action drop-down menu). Next, restart TB, double-click a pdf attachment, and set the default opening application (Adobe) by clicking the Browse... button and selecting the Acrobat exe file (don't pick 'Adobe' from the displayed list).
