Okay, so in an attempt to block an avatar on a forum that was annoying me, I've somehow managed to block ALL avatars on the forum (www.tfw2005.com) and I can't get the browser to undo this. When I go to the exceptions list under options -> Preferences, there is nothing listed. Nada. So, the normal trouble shooting stuff is useless to me. I tried running the browser in safe mode, which did allow the avatars to be shown, but when I tried resetting Firefox entirely it still refused to load the avatars. How can I get Firefox to undo this without having to completely re-install?

When you are viewing a page on the site, right-click a blank area and choose View Page Info. On the Permissions tab, change the Load Images setting back to Use Default. Then close the dialog and refresh the page.

Success?

(The older, slower way is to go through the Options dialog, Content tab, second Exceptions button down from the top, to the right of Load images automatically.)

Edit: I hadn't actually looked at this site before, but the images are hosted on a different domain (cdn.tfw2005.com), so the Permissions tab you get when you right-click the page won't give you access to that setting. Please see the methods in cor-el's post that follows this one.

You can use these steps to check if images are blocked:

  • Click the "More Information" button to open the "Page Info" window with the Security tab selected (also accessible via "Tools > Page Info").
  • Go to the Media tab of the "Tools > Page Info" window.
  • Select the first image link and scroll down through the list with the Down arrow key.
  • If an image in the list is grayed and there is a check-mark in the box "Block Images from..." then remove that mark to unblock the images from that domain.
