I can't understand why the Windows menu shows us all the open windows, in no order whatsoever. Not chronological or alphabetical, just random placements, making finding anything a dizzying & time consuming experience, as I have to look up and down each & every time. I don't know of any other browser that gives no option as to how to sort this lis.

Prior to Firefox version 108, the list in my Firefox Window menu dropdown was in chronological order of the Window containing the listed Tab. After upgrading to 108.0.1, the dropdown list is now in alphabetical order of the active Tab for the respective windows. I could not find a Firefox preference (even in the Configuration Editor) to change to get the chronological order. I'd hate to have to downgrade my Firefox version just to get my desired order of that dropdown.

I agree with @human321. I was forced to upgrade when FF crashed the other day, and now all of my windows are sorted alphabetically. This was exactly the behaviour that caused me to switch from Chrome to FF in the first place. I *HATE* having my windows sorted alphabetically. I have certain windows that remain open all the time, and they remain at the top of my Window menu drop-down, for easy access. (Hence, chronological by when the window opened, the old default behaviour.) Now, FF "helpfully" changes the window position every time I change tabs, and I can't find anything. I mentally sort windows by subject matter, not by the name displayed on the tab. I have tens of windows (20-30 typically) open at any given time. This makes it literally impossible to use the Window menu anymore, and I have to tab through open windows searching for what I need.

Mozilla, please make this a configurable option. It was really horrible of you to enforce this on us, just because some squeaky-wheels decided they preferred alphabetical sorting. They clearly are not power users, and this change has crippled those of us who are.

(@StevenCee, it was always chronological by when the WINDOW (not tab) was originally opened. This made sense to most of us.)

Thank you, StevenCee and dvinas. I agree completely. I, too, have tens of windows open, each ranging from just a few to over 100 tabs each. Who on earth wants windows listed alphabetically?? Like you, I keep some windows open perpetually; I want them chronological, like they were. We constantly jump around from tab to tab, so who knows which tab we left viewable? Then try to find it alpha-freaking-betically? This is nuts.

Furthermore, I don't remember seeing all of those menu items listed above the window names. What's up with that?

As more browsers come out, why alienate loyal FF users? I have been using FF browser since it came out.

Please, someone change it back or allow it to be changed and tell us how! It took me a while to even find this question because I didn't know what to ask.
