Why do I get redirected to a Yahoo DNS error page every time an ad fails to load in a website?
DNS Solution Yahoo Error Handler https://search.yahoo.com/yhs/errorhandler?hspart=gt&hsimp=yhse-gt&q=(URL of the page I wanted) Search query We did not find results for because SafeSearch is active and your query contains some restricted word(s). Try the suggestions below or type a new query above. To search for , change your SafeSearch preferences.
This just recently started popping up when I load some news sites. It seems to load the article, and then an ad comes in and causes the page to redirect to this error handler. Yahoo is not even my default search. I can usually hit the back button and get the site I wanted, but it's extremely annoying and I don't know what causes it.

Hi boriszcat, your Question Details > More System Details shows you are infected with the Searchme extension.
Open the Add-ons page using either:
- Cmd+Shift+a
- "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the right side remove or disable Searchme -- and anything else that you don't need, such as the other 3 Spigot/MyBrowserBar extensions. Bear in mind that all extensions are optional and none are included with Firefox when you first get it.
Often a link will appear above at least one disabled extension to restart Firefox. You can complete your work on the tab and click one of the links as the last step.
Does that help you regain control?
This might be the tip of a malware iceberg. When you install free software, you often get unmentioned bundled extras. I don't know how best to "clean" a Mac of such items, but you may want to look into it.

It could be SafeSearch is blocking something, causing the error.
Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web Link} by holding down the <Shift>
(Mac Options) key, and then starting Firefox. Is the problem still there?
Thank you for that. I went back to my Preferences and found that Yahoo Search Engine was in there, although I had removed it previously. Hopefully removing the Yahoo search engine will solve this issue for me. But I hope I don't have to remove it again every time an updated version of Firefox downloads... I'm positive I had removed it already.
Now it has happened again. I went back to Preferences again, and yahoo search is still removed. I took out all search engines except google and wikipedia, yet I am still getting a yahoo search error. Do I need to do something else to get rid of yahoo?
By Troubleshooting my Add-ons, I found that Vuze Remote Plug-in was the culprit in my case. Disabling and removing it solved the problem.
That was very good work. Well Done. Please flag your last post as Solved Problem so others will know.

I can't find any such add-on on my computer. Thanks for the tip anyway.

Great information, thank you so much! I'll give it a day to see if this has solved it.
