I have a work email (IMAP) via the server STRATO that i connected to my thunderbird account. As my Stratoserver mail box is completely full I have to remove emails from this account. The thing is that I don't want to lose any emails, so I need to know if it is possible to save all contacts and emails in my thunderbird or on my laptop so that I can remove all my mails in my online webmail account without losing them in Thunderbird. I have tried a couple of options, it only doesn't to work. I have a Macbook Pro dec 2014 edition.

Thunderbird is software on your computer so I do not understand your subject line. You need to create folders under Local Folders and copy messages into those folders. Once you are sure the messages are in the local folders and you can access them you can remove them from your providers server.
