There's a strange graphic on the homepage today -- the FF logo, and then a little figure (both images are somewhat pixelated on my computer -- and the little figure has a word bubble that says "Click me." Foolishly I did. Something was downloaded to my computer (but I cannot find what it was) and nothing else happened. Was FF hacked or something? please advise....

thanks for your response... but if this is a promo, why is there no information about it, and why can't I find it on my computer?

I have been a loyal FF user for years, and this may send me running to another browser. I don't like stuff being downloaded to my computer without any warning.

If you would have clicked on the hyperlink below the Search container on the home page, you would have been sent to the page that I linked above.

That "game" isn't actually "installed" on your computer, it is loaded from the Mozilla server the first time you open the default homepage when a "promo" like that starts; it is saved in your settings until the promo runs its course and then that "brand logo area" is reset to the default "globe" until the next promo begins.

That is the 3rd or 4th "promo" that has runs this year; the one that drove me nuts was the Olympic Games promo back in May / June, with a "torch" that sucked the life out of my CPU each time I opened Firefox.

I got to just blocking that "crap" from even showing via userChrome.css code. I posted this "User Style" in August to help other Firefox users get rid of that "aggravation". https://userstyles.org/styles/104673/about-home-hide-snippets-and-hide-brand-logo
