I have sites that I visit several times a day (e-mail, facebook, etc..). With the previous version of Firefox, these sites were not deleted from the drop-down when I closed Firefox. They were there the next time I opened Firefox and ready to be used. I have tried to adjust the settings under "Options-Privacy" and "Clear Recent History". Just have not found the right combination. Thank you for any and all help. David

Are you using Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox ?

Make sure that you do not remove the Browsing History.

This can also be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
