I have 5 computers in the studio. The macs operate osx version 10.3.9. which will not except Firefox 3.6. I cannot upgrade to osx 10.5 because there is not enough disk space. I am concerned by the your statement that my version is no longer protected against attacks. What does this mean exactly ?

What that message is referring to is one of the safer browsing features no longer working in older versions of Firefox. Firefox has a feature to warn you if a site you are trying to access is a suspected phishing site/web forgery or contains malware. It does this by checking with a database maintained by Google of suspect sites, and if the site is in the Google database it warns you before you access the site. The database used by Firefox 3.0 and earlier has been discontinued so you will no longer get any warnings. Firefox 3.5 and later use a new database of suspect sites.
