If I set up Firefox synch on two computers, will I lose the bookmarks on one of the computers, or does synch combine the bookmarks of both computers onto both browsers?

If I set up Firefox Synch on two computers, will I lose all the bookmarks, preferences, etc. on one of the computers, because they will be replaced with the other computer's Firefox bookmarks, etc.? Or will the synch combine bookmarks, etc. of both computers, so that bothe browsers have all the bookmarks that were present in both browsers? If I add synch to a third computer, will those bookmarks also be added to the existing ones for all the other computers?
