When thunderbird successfully sends an email but seems unable to save the file to the email server it offers to save it locally for now. We have several of these locally saved emails and would like them to appear in the sent folder in our email client and on our email server. Please explain how to get these temporarily saved local emails to appear in the sent folder?

Who is the mail provider? Some, like gmail and outlook.com, copy sent messages automatically to a folder, so to avoid the error, some settings in TB have to be adjusted.

The mail provider is ionos and we use SMTP and IMAP to connect to their email servers.

i feel as if I probably just need to find the local copies of the messages and then copy them to a specific new location or perhaps use an import command of some kind.. just not sure what to do to get them to show in the sent folder

I have never had a problem just highlighting the message in local folder, rightclick and select move to the desired sent folder.

The destination folder for sent messages might be named Sent, Sent Mail or Sent Items, depending on the provider, so that must be set in Account Settings, Copies & Folders, and the correct folder must be subscribed. Right-click the account in the Folder Pane, Subscribe, to see the available folders.
