Hi I am seriously sick of having to downgrade firefox from the new quantum to a previous version. I have disabled every automatic update for firefox yet it still somehow updates itself around every week which I have always loved firefox but if i have to keep downgrading it because you have set it up to auto update even when its totally disabled I will have no choice but to find a new browser as quantum is absolute garbage. You either need to let us keep using older versions without auto updates or let us run old extensions eg download status bar and tab mix plus as without being able to run at least these 2 addons firefox is extremely annoying to use now.

Please tell me there is a way to force firefox to never update again. It has been auto updating from Firefox 56.0.2 or is there a different version which doesnt auto update by itself when its been disabled?

Regards Jamie

By all means it can't be stopped there is options but that isn't asked to be helped with in doing so. So to use FF beyond FF56 for FF57+ you need to backup the bookmark and then uninstall and delete Mozilla folder and do a clean install of the latest FF to fix corrupted FF updates.

Firefox 56.0.2 works flawlessly besides it updating itself to the latest version which is just a pain to use so that doesn't help answer my question. Thanks anyway.

You should not be running old or out of date versions of Firefox. you are vulnerable to many well known security issues if you do so.

Please update to Firefox 61. For the other issues, you can make adjustments to how Firefox looks using userChrome.css

Firefox 56.0.2 hasn't been supported for over 6 months now and using that old of a version isn't supported by Mozilla. The recommendation was to go back to the ESR 52 version, but that version goes end-of-life and becomes no longer supported in early September. Plus there were changes made between Firefox 52 ESR and Firefox 56 that make "going back" a bit "dicey".

Overall, it comes down to Quantum or switching to a different web browser.

I know that Tyler mentioned userChrome.css to "adjust" the appearance of Quantum. IMO if you have been unable to turn off updates in Firefox 56, you aren't capable of using the userChrome.css file effectively.
