I've re-downloaded and installed, but when it comes to launching it won't. When I try to re-install it tells me to close Firefox and it's not open (launched). I've removed it from my programs and re-installed but still won't launch.

hi, it's not because you're still on xp - you'll soon receive no more firefox security updates for that outdated system, but firefox will still be able to run.

as this is often a symptom that's caused by malicious software on a system, please run a scan with various different security tools like the free version of malwarebytes, adwcleaner & eset online one-time scanner. Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware

None of the tools recommended will run on XP. Are there tools that will run with XP?
