How can I change which monitor shows popup notifications?

Hello, I like my popups for Firefox for the websites where I allow it, but I dont like where they show up. I am a gamer, recording my gameplay on Monitor 1. Firefox popus are showing up on my monitor 1 and end up in my recordings (not yet published, I have to go through all the footage and clip it out, or just leave it in, depending on what the notification is).

I have three monitors, I do not like the popups coming up where I am recording. I want to select which monitor they show up via dropdown menu that ask me which monitor to show them on. I want firefox popups to be on monitor 2 or 3, but not 1.

My responses for possible work-arounds: Changing what monitor I record is not an option for me, as some games will default to monitor 1. Changing my recording to record the game (instead of the monitor) is also not an option, because I want to allow different windows to be shown on my screen, and some games wont record well with game capture. Not having firefox running while I am gaming is also not an option for me, because I need/want to see content in Firefox while I am recording. Changing browsers also not an option, because I depend on a plugin that only works in Firefox. I am trying out this recording thing stating yesterday, and the only thing that isnt working so far is Firefox popups showing up in my recordings.

Popups come from the site settings not from FF.

They are popups from Firefox, not the game. Popups are notifications that I have seen (and want) are from Livestream Notifier (an Addon); from Rabb .it; from survivetheark .com; and from Facebook. All of these use my browser to send me popups.

Here is a sample of a popup I want to have, but dont want the popup where it shows up: https://i.imgur.com/93phEWb.png

Turning the popups off is not a solution for me, because I need these popups to tell me info I want in real time. I want these popups... but I don't want them on the monitor where they are showing up.

If the monitor they appear on cannot be changed then I need this thread to be sent to Firefox Suggestions.

Another issue these popups cause is when I am moving in Ark (Ark uses my mouse for camera moment) my cursor goes outside of the window, which the cursor shouldn't do this, the cursor shouldnt even show up, it should be fixed inside the game window, and hidden. The cursor goes outside of the window when a Firefox popup is active.

Talking to the game's companies for a solution to this cursor issue isnt a good work around because Ark isn't the only game that does this with the cursor... Besides, Wildcard probably wont even bother to make the change, they tend to focus on other things.

Cursor going outside my game window wouldn't be an issue if I could control what monitor shows the popup, and make sure the popup doesn't show up on my gaming monitor.

P.S. I have halted my recordings because it isnt working out for me at this time.

You just identified the source where they are coming from and it isn't from FF and since this is a FF end user help forum you need to contact those Addon creators for support on how to configure their Addons. They use your Browser but they are not coming from the Browser as your eluding to here.

I'm pretty sure those companies do not control where the popup shows up.

I'm pretty sure Firefox decides where the popup shows up because these popups are using Firefox notifications to send me these things. Looks like Firefox, as all of these popups have the same visual format, with different icons and text, as well as they all are in the same location on my monitor.

I am pretty sure Firefox controls where these popups shows up. Edit to add: I found the link to this article https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/push-notifications-firefox

I feel like I am being shoved into a run-around. I am frustrated with this problem. I will go ahead and contact some of those companies, but I am pretty sure they will tell me that they don't decide where these popups show up and tell me to ask Firefox.

"Websites can install a Service Worker, a background web page with a limited set of functionality, that can subscribe to the push service. The website can then send a push message through Mozilla’s Web Push service to your browser, which can process that message and display a notification on your screen."

This is what I mean when I say popup or notification: Mozilla's Web Push Service.

Is this not the place to ask for adjustments to "Mozilla's Web Push Service"?

The position of a notification is fixed in the Firefox code and can't be modified and I'm not aware of a way to select on what monitor the alert will appear.

Thank you for the info. Do you know where I need to go to make a suggestion to make the position modifiable?

I need the notifications to appear on a different monitor.

While I am playing certain games, there is a risk of my character dying due to loss of control caused by the notification being over my game screen. Dying in Ark Survival Evolved can cause a loss of time I have spent, up to days, or even weeks. Lost time depends on what else dies while I am trying to recover my character's stuff at her death point.

I do not know how to Adjust the Ark game client to launch itself in a different window. I play it fullscreen. As far as I have seen, I would have to launch the game client, change the settings to windowed, reduce the size of the client, and only THEN can I have it moved to a different monitor. Or not play fullscreen, and it isn't as enjoyable when it is smaller.

Seems I cant control what monitor my game launches on, unless I download a 3rd party program (if I am reading this post correctly) https://gaming.stackexchange.com/questions/28525/can-i-tell-steam-which-monitor-to-open-a-game-on and I dont really wanna do that, could be a virus, or use up more of my CPU/Ram, which I dont have as much as I want as it is.

My post asking survivetheark for the notification adjustment for their website remains unanswered since I posted it the other day.

My Tweet to the guy that runs the Livestream Notifier Extention did reply right away. He told me "it's either ff or you OS, depending on your OS/config." and "I think there's a bug open about notification placement on Windows being all over the place, especially with multiple monitors."

I dont know what bug he is referring to. My Web Push Notifications have always been in the same place. But pretty much he is saying he isn't in control of the position. He helped me understand that popups and notifications are different things. My bad, I didn't know the proper technical lingo for the popup box on the bottom right of my main monitor when I started this thread. It's proper term is "Web Push Notification" I now believe. I'm not a programmer so I am not sure what I can do on my end to make an adjustment. I did some googling, and I only see options to enable or disable the Push Notifications, or disable it for certain sites, but I have not found anything for adjusting it's position.

I know I can rearrange/reassign my monitors, but the default monitor that games load in, are the same monitor the notifications appear.

Is there maybe a Mozilla Firefox extension that can help me control what monitor the notifications appear? I'd be willing to try some of those things out.

It's pretty important to me that I get these Web Push Notifications to show up on a different monitor, and on the bottom left of that other monitor... I do not want them on my main monitor.

Is there another place I should start a thread? Or is this the right place?

This is still an issue.

Just now I was clicking around in a different game, PixArk this time, and Firefox Web Push notification popped up in front of my game, and my clicking (intended for in-game activity) clicked on the push notification instead, which that click caused Firefox to open the webpage for that notification.

I am 100% sure this is a notification from Firefox Web Push.

I need to move it. Please help me.

One thing I have found, is that when I move my taskbar's postion, the position of the notification changes. I usually have the taskbar on the right side of the right monitor. With the taskbar there, the FF notification appears on the right side of the middle monitor. When I moved the taskbar to the left side of the right monitor, the notification now appeared on the left side of the middle monitor.

Because my taskbar is on the far right of my three monitors, I cannot get the notification moved right any further, and I want the notification to show up on the left side of the right monitor.

This is very frustrating! Can anyone help with directing me to a plugin/extension, or a Windows7 setting, or a Firefox setting? I want to get this push notification moved off my gaming monitor before it causes me to get my game character killed!
