Hello forestsw,

As the problem disappears when your add-ons are disabled : re-enable them one by one, till you find the culprit .....

Should the above not solve the problem : would you please check your settings in Options => Privacy & Security => Address Bar

You could also check this :

Type in the address bar about:config and press Enter (promise to be careful, if asked)

Type in the search bar browser.urlbar.

And look for the preferences :

browser.urlbar.autocomplete.enabled and browser.urlbar.autoFill.typed and browser.urlbar.autoFill

and make sure that their values are set to true (default)

I tried your suggestions, it still does not work. Let me be more specific, it works when I try Safe Mode, that is it.

thank you,

You said earlier that it works with all add-ons disabled - hence my first suggestion.

Safe Mode does more than disabale add-ons only .....

See : https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/troubleshoot-firefox-issues-using-safe-mode

Have you tried everything that's mentioned in that article  ?

Did you check the settings that were listed to see if they are enabled or not? Since safe-mode loads them in default it works, if your regular profile doesn't, then it might have been explicitly disabled by an addon or for some other reason. Verify them to make sure they are enabled, it wasn't clear you did that part or just did the addon disables/renables only.

If they are enabled in the profile in question when NOT in safe-mode, then there is a potential that your prefs.js file is somehow corrupted or possibly a user.js file overriding it. Can you check and see if you have a user.js file in that profile or not?

Are you using a userChrome.css file in the chrome folder in the Firefox profile folder to customize Firefox?

Yes, I am using that. Is that the issue?

How is .css changing of the look going to affect a browser feature controlled by a setting? Facade versus function. Can you elaborate on how that would matter?

Unless that .css is hiding things it shouldn't. So remove it temporarily and see if that fixes it, if so then an option inside is hiding it from you. You can then find which one and comment it out.

There might be code in the file that affects the location bar. Note that Safe Mode disables userChrome.css and userContent.css.

Can you post the content of userChrome.css if that file isn't too big?

You can upload the file in case the file is too big to put in a reply and post the link in a reply.
