I have an en_US Firefox and I like English as the default UI language. However, I only want to spell-check in my native language (Czech). I have cs_CZ dictionary installed and I basically want to get rid of the en_US menu item in the context menu > Languages. (Because some text areas will somehow automatically switch to en_US and I don't want to right click and select the right language all the time.)

Can I just delete the en_US dictionary from my Firefox profile or will that cause issues?

Thanks.

Chosen solution

Deleted the installed dictionary (renamed the files to be safe), all seems fine. Fingers crossed :)

Have you tried about:config ~ spellchecker.dictionary and changing it to cs_CZ?

Did you install the en-US dictionary yourself of do you have the en-US Firefox locale that comes with the en-US dictionary?

If the latter applies then the en-US dictionary is located in the dictionaries folder Firefox program folder.

It's the later. Can I just delete the installed dictionary? Not sure if this will have any undesired side effects.
