Why am I receiving messages that certain emails may be scams when I've already entered these emails to my address book?

I often receive a warning message from Thunderbird that "this email may be a scam," yet I've already added this email address to my address book, so supposedly Thunderbird should know this is a trusted email address. Why is it doing this, and how can I make this function work more accurately? Please explain as basically as possibly, as I'm not a very techy person. Thanks in advance.

Thunderbird's scam detection does not have any regard to whom the mail is from in deciding if it is is a scam or not.

It only has 2 settings on and off Tools menu (alt+T) > options > Security > E-mail scams

V5.0 does not have a "scam" option in Tools-Options-Security tab... any other suggestions?
