It means you don't have permission without entering your administrator's password.

Have you run Disk Utilities repair permissions? That being said I could not get FF 5.0 to run on my Mac with OS 10.6.8 I reverted back to FF 3.6.19

Good luck.

Regarding the above: Password was entered. Is there a FireFox Technical person anywhere to be found? Quit wasting my time, please and just let me talk to someone who WORKS FOR FIREFOX and can answer this.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop

  • Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
  • Install the new version that you have downloaded

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data.

And what? Lose all the contacts, bookmarks, etc?

cor-el just said you will Not lose your bookmarks and other personal data as they are not in the Firefox folder but in a separate safe place. The Firefox Profile Folder in his reply was a link which was http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox
