I had this problem and it drove me nuts! After a couple of uninstalls and doing the CCleaner routine what finally resolved the porblem was the third time I did an uninstall I checked the box that asks if you want ot remove your personal settings. It then tells you that it will remove all passwords, bookmarks, etc. Because I use Mozy backup I went ahead and reinstalled Firefox ermoving the personal settings and it came up with no issues. So I restored my Favorites and will go ahead and re-customize it to my liking. Hope this helps.

I opened CCleaner; after clearing the Firefox session, the program returned to normal.
Notes: I did a cold boot (shut down and restart) to no avail. I tried right-clicking, etc. to no avail.
On CCleaner (a free utility download from FileHippo or similar site), I only checked the boxes for cache and session, to see what would happen. The cache had 0 bytes, presumably because I'd done a cold boot. So, you really just need to close Firefox, clear the session using CCleaner and restart Firefox.
>> When searching for a solution I asked this question another way. This is the same reply I entered there ("Firefox remains minimized on taskbar and won't open or maximize.") A reply already posted there suggested opening Firefox in safe mode.
I had the same problem, running CCleaner does not help. It has to do with the dual monitor capabilities of your computer. If you are only using one monitor but have two video cable hooked up to your computer and the back of your monitor, remove one of the cables and that will correct the problem.
