Autofill searches in address bar of unwanted results
Hello,
How do I disable or remove these autofill searches that I do not use that appear at the very top. They keep appearing such as searching up gamestop it goes to gamefaq first or searching maps to get google maps, it gives my local city website map instead.
These have become a nuisance as I never visit these sites.
Thanks!

Hi G, the suggestions that appear in the address bar itself are supplied by the autofill feature from a list of sites that you visited at some point in the past. These can be difficult to flush because even if you clear your recent visits to sites, that list can persist. So, two options:
(A) Remove specific sites
This involves using the "Forget about this site" feature, and requires having at least one visit in your history. Call up the Library window to the history list using Crl+Shift+H. Then in the tiny search box at the upper right, enter enough of the address to isolate the site. Finally, right-click a history entry for the site and choose "Forget about this site" to deep clean it out of Firefox.
(B) Stop showing all autofill suggestions
To completely disable the in-URL-bar autofill feature:
(1) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.
More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future. Since we have had this setting for a long time and I use it myself, I feel comfortable mentioning it.
(2) In the search box in the page, type or paste browser.urlbar.autoFill and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click the preference to switch the value from true to false

Hello,
Try loading about:preferences#search, then clicking on "Change settings for other address bar suggestions", and then unchecking "Suggestions from the web." Hope this helps!
