I refreshed Firefox. It claimed I would not lose all my bookmarks. They have all disappeared. I am old and not technical. This is a disaster. What can I do?
I lost all my bookmarks despite the Firefox refresh saying all bookmarks, etc would be saved. Also, the appearance of the page was greatly simplified and I couldn't locate things/icons I had used for years with Firefox, and didn't know how to use the new page.
I think Mozilla should make clear to none technical older users like me that when you refresh: everything will change and you may lose bookmarks accumulated over years, etc. There is no way I would have refreshed if they had made that clear.
I tried the help pages but that led me to pages I didn't understand or couldn't find what they said I would find.
Amongst other things, how do I (simply) get all my bookmarks back?
Does this refresh mean I have lost other things too??
Thank you, John

Refreshing Firefox will reset any addons that you have installed on Firefox and many settings in the browser. Generally, this is only recommended if you are experiencing issues with Firefox, but if your computer has detected that Firefox has been running slowly, it may have been recommended to you for that reason.
Although Firefox doesn't delete your bookmarks when you refresh it, your bookmark menu and bookmark toolbar will probably be hidden by default. You would need to Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars in order to see those again.
I'd recommend following the solution to this discussion page.

Thank you for your advice, Wesley. I have managed to track down and reinstall the interface I was used to and the bookmarks. On the reset, I couldn't even locate the menu bar at the top which had disappeared. This is confusing to older users. Not to mention the bookmarks. Thanks again for your assistance. John
