Unable to send email to addresses which are not in my local addressbook
When trying to send a brand new test message to an email address which is not in my personal/local addressbook, pressing the "send" button does nothing: no error messages or any kind of feedback whatsoever. If I create the new contact in the addressbook it works as expected.
I also have a shared LDAP directory configured and autocompletion using the directory works fine but, still, if the contact is not in the personal/local addressbook the "send" button does nothing. Plus there are no active addons either.
Any suggestions?

This sounds very similar to this bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1371309
Test: Create a new profile using profile manager. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager
Create an existing mail account for email address click on 'Write' In TO field enter email address - it should be in red because at this point you have not added anything to an address book. click on 'Send'
please report back on results.

I confirm that creating a new profile solves the problem. I guess upgrading to a newer release had something to do with this. Thanks Toad-Hall!
