AS an example, when I put "Huddersfield University" into the Firefox start page, it takes me to https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=huddersfield+university&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&client=firefox-b&gfe_rd=cr&ei=bVV3WOimEqbS8Ae_jYawAQ

No matter what I do I can't find a way of getting it to go directly to the web site I want (and the google search takes ages - the reason why I want to replace it with Firefox.

Hi, Firefox is a browser, and Google is a search engine that can be used on any browser. If you want to change the search engine to another one, please see - Change your default search settings in Firefox

If you want to go directly to an address (URL), you can type it into the address bar and press Enter.
