Sync between XP and Win8.1, both on FF 32.0.1 isn't working, why?
I'm trying to get the new sync to work. I have two machines, one XP and another Win8.1; both have FireFox 32.0.1 (and report that they are fully updated).
Sync on each machine goes to the same account. The "manage" settings are all the same. The machines are on the same network segment.
I get to the point where I believe this should happen: "After you've signed in, Firefox Sync will start synchronizing your information across your connected devices." , but nothing does.
Why, am I missing a step, a button, some security setting?

Considering that, my thought is that Sync hasn't been setup on that PC yet.
When you click on the "3-bar" Open Menu button, what appears below the white area with the icons, above Customize? Sign into Sync?

In the PC that you used to create your Sync account ... Type about:sync-log in the URL Bar and hit Enter
Do you have any Error Logs listed?
If so, open the latest one and then copy the contents of that page and paste it over at http://pastebin.com/
Then give us the URL to what you pasted, so we can view the Error Log to see what did or didn't happen.
No error log on the Win8.1 machine.
The latest error log from the WinXP machine is at: http://pastebin.com/5vGZ3Euy
Several errors in there, not sure which one is the fatal error.
Thanks
Sorry, that log is from the older version of sync - weave 1.33.0.
Firefox 32 the version is Weave 1.35.0.
My error, the most recent log was on the bottom. See: http://pastebin.com/S4rVWZB4
Sorry, I may have been wrong about the Sync version numbering for Firefox 31. In my Firefox 32 is shows Weave 1.35.0 in a log report that I had force for a successful sync because I haven't had any failed sync sessions in that Profile. Moving beyond that....
Alright, those are both logs from WinXP PC, the first from Sept 8 and the other was created on Sept 13, with both being from Firefox 31.
Let's see about forcing a successful Sync log on the Win 8.1 PC to see what it says.
Type about:config in the URL Bar and hit Enter. Paste this line in the Search field at the top of that display. services.sync.log.appender.file.logOnSuccess Double-click that preference to toggle it to true, then restart Firefox.
Open the log that starts with success- and post that to Pastebin.

After flipping the preference to true and restarting FF - I still get nothing in the .../weave/logs/ directory

The sync ouroboros arrows and my account email address. Selecting that brings up the Options menu for Sync with the Account options Manage and Disconnect, the Sync options Tabs, etc, and the Device name (which is different then the XP machine)
It works now, the Win8.1 box updated to 32.0.2 and it sync'ed on restart. The XP box is still at 32.0.1
